Good afternoon,
This has been amazing week for the LP community! We hosted our first ever Taste of LP, Multicultural Night and ended the week with our 5th annual whole school field trip.
Tuesday evening families joined each other in celebration of our diversity and culture. Over 20
countries were represented through artifacts, performances, crafts and of course, FOOD!! We not only had families that cooked and served their fellow LP families native cuisine, but many more that attended to take in the different experiences of other families. On behalf of all that attended, I say THANK YOU to those that shared their culture with the rest of us and THANK YOU to those that came to learn about others. I look forward to watching a possible new tradition emerge at LP!
Today our whole school field trip took place. Teachers came back with glowing remarks about the
interactions between students, their exemplary behavior and the purposeful conversations that took place afterward. I ’m sure your children will share more about their experiences. As I reflect on the purpose for this annual whole school neighborhood field trip, I am reminded of how important providing formal and informal opportunities for our students to interact with other students ranging from Kindergarten through Eighth grade truly is. As we prepare for our WITWILP adventure this spring, I am confident the relationships our children have developed with other students throughout the year will serve them well!
Lastly, some bits of information:
-THANK YOU to the families that have volunteered to serve as new Family Mentors. We have
enough volunteers and are already preparing for next year!
-MAP testing begins next week. Please make sure to send students to school well rested!
-If you are still looking to volunteer for WITWILP, please complete the attached form and
return it to school ASAP. We are still in need of volunteers!
Much more in this week’s edition of the LP Press: LP Press April 20th
Have a wonderful
weekend!
