Lincoln Prairie Weekly Update September 6

Good afternoon,

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the start of our journey this year at our first Whole School Meeting! Although a short meeting, it was filled with some of our favorite traditions: the Golden Broom, the announcement of our Community Musical – Seussical The Musical, a showcase of our 4/5 and Middle Level experiences, a donation was given to our school by our community partners and more! You can check out all the fun from the meeting and watch it by clicking here.

District 54 and Lincoln Prairie School continue our focus on the whole child. Every month we will bring you an overview of the Key of Excellence that is being taught at school, as well as the Social Emotional Learning or SEL focus for each month. The first Friday of each month we will outline the Key of The Month and the District 54 SEL units. This month we will be learning about Integrity.  Below is the Home Connection letter for the first unit, taught during the first weeks of school, as well as the next two that will be taught throughout the month of September.  Check out Mrs. Novak’s article in the LP Press for more on the importance of following up at home. Feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher with further questions.

Volunteers Needed

Our triannual Middle Level Career Fair is on Wednesday, September 18 from 8:30-11:00 and we are in need of more volunteers.  Students are currently working on Career Exploration Projects in which they identify their strongest MI(s) and then choose a career that coincides with those findings.  Other parts of the project include finding a university or training program that supports their career path and talking with current professionals in their chosen field to expose students to a wide variety of occupations.  That’s where you come in. We need the help of the Lincoln Prairie Community to ensure the success of this event. All that will be required is answering questions from students about your career. Please email Mrs. Downey (, Mr. Natrop ( or Mr. Levin ( if you are interested in helping out!

New Family Meet & Greet

The first New Family Parent Meet & Greet is rescheduled for Monday, September 30 at 9:15am. Please click here to see the Lincoln Prairie Meet & Greet DATE CHANGE for details.
