Lincoln Prairie Friday Update October 18

Good morning,

Although a short week, we were able to pack quite a bit into the 4 days! Two highlights from the week – Our K/1 teachers were the last teachers to attend the Innovation training at our district this week. All teachers have been able to immerse themselves in a better understanding of Innovative practices, as well as instructional strategies to support our student’s learning. Their reflection, like the others, will help elevate the experiences students have in their classrooms and beyond! Our Middle Level media students took a field trip to the WGN studios for their annual tour of the station. This real world example and application of the work they do during their Media class is an experience that brings learning to life. From our 5 year olds to our 14 year olds, we see opportunities that exist that are shaping their future. Exciting stuff, don’t you think?

Stress Management for Anxious Children – Oct. 24

When children are anxious, their parents can become anxious as well. Join Dr. McGrath, Ph.D., Clinical Director of the Center for Anxiety and OCD at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, as he talks about how to work with your anxious child so that they learn to face their fears. Learn to allow them to feel anxious without rescuing them from the experience. (Before the presentation, the PTA Council will have a short meeting to adopt its audit report and approve its budget for the year.) This workshop will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the District 54 Professional Learning Center, 522 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Please click here for the Stress Management Flyer.

Have a wonderful weekend!
