Lincoln Prairie Friday Update April 24

Good afternoon parents,

I cannot stop reading the funny stories and memes parents keep posting about schooling from home. Please know that as a principal, I am not immune to the same stories. For me the irony always comes to how I can get 400 children to be engaged in learning, be kind to each other and learn from their mistakes and the 1 I have at home looks at me almost daily like I have NO IDEA what I’m talking about!

The beauty of “School” at your house is that YOU are in charge and YOU can create the environment that works best for you. While my son completes his school work well at home, his lunch choices are the issue we keep having. I have decided to let it go. I am not arguing about his lunch choices anymore. “Takis do not have ANY nutritional value,” I said.”They do when you drink them with milk,” responded my son!! UGH!!! I just make sure breakfast and dinner are good. So many fun parenting stories right now, don’t you agree?!

We know you continue to have questions regarding end of year events and traditions, picking up items left at school and more. We are working on all of those things. Our goal is to provide students the opportunity for closure to the school year in a way that is not only safe but helpful for them emotionally. More information is forthcoming.

Stay strong parents!  We ARE getting through this!

Reading Resource

Lincoln Prairie School now has its own Online Reading Resource website that is filled with links to sites containing online reading materials, read along videos, virtual field trips, and more. The site also provides students with a link and instructions on how they can check out e-Books from our school library! This site has the same links that were on the Padlet that was shared with you earlier. It is accessible from the front page of our school webpage under bookmarks and by clicking this Lincoln Prairie Reading Resource Link.
