April 23, 2021
Dear Lincoln Prairie Community,

We’ve enjoyed another week here at Lincoln Prairie! Thank you parents for your continued support of the hard work that is taking place, as well as the efforts of our staff. We certainly appreciate your partnership. The conversations and collaborative efforts to help the children we share be their best selves is definitely the key ingredient to the success of this school year!

We have seen a spike in absences for non-health related reasons. We need our students engaging in their school day – five days a week. If you have opted for our 5 Day In Person Model, we need your children at school all five days. If you’ve opted for the Remote Model, we need them online all five days.  Now that 82% of our students are back in person, teachers and staff have been able to engage students in higher levels. In a few of our classes, we have 100% of our students back in person, which allows for a much richer instructional experience. When students stay home or are off line unnecessarily, it has an impact on the students’ learning.

To be clear, if your child is sick or experiencing COVID symptoms, they should stay home or take a break from their learning for that day, depending on their condition.

2021-2022 Learning Model Selection

You should have received an email asking for your decision regarding next year’s learning model: In-Person Learning or the Virtual Learning Academy.  To make your decision, please click here and choose by May 14.  If your family does not make a decision for enrollment by May 14th, students will automatically be enrolled in In-Person learning for 2021-2022 school year.

Attendance

Please remember, if you are an In Person learner and need to work remotely or will be absent, you need to call the attendance line. In Person Learners are expected at school all 5 days per week. If your child is a Remote Learner and will not be online, please also call the attendance line.

Spring MAP Testing

This spring we will test kindergarten through eighth grade students using the MAP assessment tool.  The MAP testing window for Lincoln Prairie is from May 3rd – May 12th.  The computer-based assessment will be administered to students in-person because we know that the most reliable administration and data point comes when students are tested in-person. The purpose of the assessment is to continue to obtain data points on our students and to continue to plan for instruction that meets the needs of each student.

With the testing being in-person on assigned days/times it will be important for the school to partner with families to help this process be as successful as possible.

Important Details on the Spring  MAP Assessment:

·        Students will be seated with a minimum of 3 feet of social distance.

·        Masks will be required.

·        Remote students invited to the building to test.

·        Parents or caregivers of remote only students will be responsible for transporting students to and from school on their testing day/time.

·        Communication to remote students regarding the date and time of the assessment will be coming via US Mail from Lincoln Prairie office. If you are a remote family, and do not receive a letter please call our main office.
