|Dear Lincoln Prairie community,
We hope this email finds you and your families doing well and excited for the weekend! It was so nice to see students engaged with their classmates and teachers this week. We know the majority of the week has been focused on learning procedures and platforms, while also creating opportunities for connections between students and staff. We hope your child has come away with a positive experience as a result. Next week’s routines and new learning are sure to engage students deeper in their thinking. We look forward to seeing them again on Monday!
As with each Friday’s email, we’ve outlined important information for all parents. Please read through the details below carefully to ensure you are prepared for the week(s) ahead.
Google Meet and Zoom Sessions
We have enjoyed a successful first week of remote learning. One important request we are making of our parents at this time is to please not record Zoom/Google Meet sessions or take photographs of students in your child’s class during Zoom/Google Meet sessions. This request is made out of respect for the privacy of the other students in your child’s class. If you have specific questions or concerns regarding this, please contact me directly.
We are taking attendance each day through the office and actively monitoring all student’s participation in their live classes. Please continue to call the office attendance line to inform us of your child’s absences.
Fall Virtual MAP Assessment
This Fall we will be continuing to test kindergarten through eighth grade students using the MAP assessment tool. This year the computer based assessment will be administered to the students while they are in a remote environment. The purpose of the assessment will be to inform teachers of the immediate instructional needs of students. MAP results equip educators with key data to help personalize instruction and pinpoint individual student needs.
With this being our first time remote testing it will be important to partner with families to help this new process be as successful as possible. If families have any technical difficulties while attempting to complete the assessment they can call our MAP hotline at: 847-357-5153.
Important Details on the Virtual MAP Assessment:
· Communication regarding the date and time of the assessment will be coming from your child’s teacher or the individual who will be proctoring your child’s MAP test a few days prior to their testing session.
· Students in grades kindergarten and first grade will begin a test session on Zoom with the teacher. A caregiver must be present to support the child logging into Zoom and into the test session.
· Our students in second grade through eighth grade will be proctored by a teacher via Zoom while they complete the assessment.
· Students in grades kindergarten through second grade have 90 minutes to complete the assessment.
· Students in third grade through eighth grade have 120 minutes to complete the assessment.
· If your child does not complete the MAP assessment in this window the test will not be scored.
· Please note that this data will be used to inform your child’s teacher for instructional purposes, therefore we ask that parents refrain from assisting their child with answering questions on the MAP assessment. More resources on how to support your child during the MAP assessment to come next week.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for more information
