|Dear Lincoln Prairie community,
We are looking forward to entering into October next week! We will also be hosting our first Whole School Meeting of the year virtually! Students will be watching on Friday, Oct 2 at 11:40am with their classes. Feel free to watch along with them, or you can look for a link to the recording in next week’s email.
Fall Conferences: October 8 and 9
We are looking forward to the opportunity to connect with each student and family through Fall Virtual Conferences. The electronic conference sign-up sheet will be sent out to the community on Monday, September 28th. The time and format will be different than typical, but just as valuable. Please prioritize joining your child’s teacher during this year’s fall conferences.
Please continue to call our attendance line when your child is unable to partake in virtual learning due to vacation, appointments, or technology issues.
In addition, please take a moment with your child to review the importance of having the video ON when in a Zoom lesson with their teacher. We know some household’s connectivity may hinder this from taking place. However, we also know that many students are opting to turn their video off because others are doing this or because they are doing other things. We understand there are also students who’ve already reached out regarding the discomfort around seeing themselves on video. There is a very easy setting change that can eliminate the self view. Ask your child’s teacher for help in these cases. It is extremely important for teachers to see their students. This is one of the ways we are monitoring our student’s well-being and engagement. Please reinforce this expectation with them this weekend.
Lincoln Prairie Clubs
An important part of the Lincoln Prairie Philosophy focuses on providing students opportunities to explore their multiple intelligences in areas that interest them. On our Lincoln Prairie Homepage, https://lincolnprairie.sd54.org/, you will see a banner that includes all information regarding Lincoln Prairie clubs. There will be a variety of clubs available throughout the year for all grade levels. On the webpage, you can find a club brochure that shows what clubs we plan to offer throughout the 20-21 school year. This is subject to change. In order to sign your child up for a specific club, please view the flier for the specific club and fill out the permission slip linked within. The club sponsor will then be in touch with their zoom link, dates and meeting times! If you have any questions regarding clubs, please contact Mandy Moore at 847-357-5966.
District 54 Virtual Run to Read Weekend: Sept. 25-27
The year 2020 has proven to be quite an unpredictable year for all of us. For the past 16 years, the District 54 Run to Read has been a race dedicated to promoting health and wellness for all ages. With that in mind, our 17th annual Run to Read is going virtual. Run or walk anytime from Sept. 25-27 and make sure to share your photos with us by using the hashtag #54Run2Read.
All money raised this year will be donated to the District 54 Foundation Crisis Fund, to provide food and other necessary supplies to District 54 families who are struggling financially during this pandemic.
As in years past, you can choose from a variety of distances. Pick the distance that works for you and map out a route near your home. If walking is more your style, pick a distance and walk it instead.
Every registrant will receive a T-shirt and a medal. To receive the T-shirt before the event, please make sure to register by Sept. 8, 2020. Any orders received after Sept. 8 will be delivered to participants as soon as possible. T-shirts and medals will be shipped to your home.
