We enjoyed seeing so many families last night! Despite the rain, everyone was smiling and enjoying their time together, once again. We hope dropping off supplies, meeting teachers and seeing classmates helped to ease your child into the start of the school year.
As you prepare for the upcoming week, please know that it is natural for our children to feel nervous. Our role as adults is to honor those feelings, provide the opportunity to walk through them and help reframe any negative or overwhelming thoughts the best way possible. Consider taking time this weekend to plan the “controllables” for the first days - what will be packed for snack and lunch, what will be worn on the first day and even what are some “happy thoughts” to think about at different times on the first day.
We are all here to ensure the first day is a joy-filled one for every child. All LP staff members will be wearing a Navy Blue shirt on the first day to help welcome students back, as well as easily identify ourselves in the hallways for new students. We hope it helps them to reach out and talk, if need be.
Lastly, consider starting the First Day of school a little early to ensure a nice breakfast, and an opportunity for conversation before the day begins. A simple conversation starter like “What are you grateful for today?”, “What are your hopes for the school year?”, or “What are you looking forward to today” may go a long way to setting a positive start to the school year!
Have a wonderful weekend!
