For the past four weeks, students, staff and families from every District 54 school and the Rafferty Administration Center came together to raise funds to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is dedicated to advancing cures and prevention for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

This is the second year of this districtwide community service project, led by student ambassadors and the District 54 Youth Advisory Committee. Last year, students chose to support the American Cancer Society.

So far, we have raised $71,768.26, however, some donations are still being counted. To encourage participation, schools offered unique rewards to those who reach certain milestones, such as extra recess and whole school dance parties. Representatives from St. Jude will be visiting schools today to join in the celebrations.
