For those that didn’t know, our 4/5 students attended a wonderful field trip to Springfield, IL on Thursday. This long standing Lincoln Prairie tradition took our students, teachers and several parent chaperones through tours of various historic sites. As we reflected on the trip today, we thought it was important to share a bit more about field trips at Lincoln Prairie.

The intention around field trip planning is one of those key pieces to the Lincoln Prairie experience that we plan not only for the curricular tie in, but for the opportunity to grow and connect as classmates and people.

Our K-3 classes take local trips to places like the Spring Valley Nature Center and the Schaumburg Library. Above learning, those trips offer fun and connection for our students. For some of them, it is their first bus ride and others, an opportunity to step outside their comfort zone. Our goal is to provide 4th and 5th grade students experiences that stretch them as people and create a day of engagement in curriculum and relationship. One year they attend an Outdoor Education experience in Wisconsin and the other year, a trip to Springfield to bring their Social Science content to life. At Middle Level, on a three year rotation, students engage in high level content trips to places like the Holocaust Museum in Skokie or the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, to name only a couple. Lastly, our Whole School Field Trips are planned for connection, relationship building and FUN!

We appreciate your support of these trips and are thrilled to have the opportunity to watch students interact with each other in real and authentic ways.
